The glossy dark foliage has a very graceful arching habit and the flowers make a lovely feature in summer. This plant is tough reliable and non invasive.

Soil: Tolerates a wide range of soil conditions but best in a moist, well drained, fertile soil with plenty of mulch. Do not over-water in winter.

Foliage: Multiple narrow strap-like leaves that can reach anything up to 80 cm in length. These are shiny and dark green and form a thick and slow spreading clump.
Flowers: Slender flower spikes emerge amongst the strappy foliage during summer. These bear mauve to deep purple muscari-like flower heads rather like elongated miniature hyacinths. These are long lasting on the plant. Following the flowers are deep purple berries.
Uses: It can be used in massed plantings for a dramatic and lush high groundcover effect. It can be used as an edging plant used in rows as a formal border with a colour and foliage contrasting plant alongside. Plant this outside a fence line on the nature strip.
