Type and Habit: An evergreen broad bun shaped shrub usually clipped.
Average Height: 2 – 3m but usually kept much smaller.
Soil: Adaptable to most soils with moderate drainage but responds well to improved soils with mulches
Aspect: Tolerates part shade but grows better and denser in full sun.
Foliage: Shiny, bright, green, small rounded leaves are smaller than those of the Japanese Box.
Flowers/ fruit: The small perfumed flowers are inconspicuous.
Uses: Small hedges, borders, topiary, tubs, formal gardens, coastal gardens, pollution affected gardens.
Features: Very hardy,makes an excellent hedge, old neglected plants can be rejuvenated by heavy pruning, excellent for topiary work.
